PHY808 is under preclinical development for the treatment of various cancers. Consisting of one single herb, historical records show that PHY808 has been used to treat cancer, rheumatism and other inflammatory syndromes.
Our preliminary studies indicate that the water extract of PHY808 has potent activity against NF-kB. This extract demonstrated that it can also inhibit tumor growth and decrease the inflammation of arthritis when used in combination with methotrexate in mice. These mice, when administered oral dosages of the extract, showed no apparent toxicity. The therapeutic effects of PHY808 appear to be better than its isolated chemicals, which are toxic when given orally. |
